The bottom left of this plot is where the bums reside, and unfortunately, Mr. Pickens finds himself in that space. He’s currently lagging behind league averages in both separation and catch percentage, trailing even titans like Ray-Ray McCloud. Pickens might argue that his elite contested-catch ability makes up for his lack of separation, but with a catch rate that’s far from elite, it's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I wouldn’t be shocked if Pickens isn’t on the roster next season. If that happens, it would mean the possibility of losing both our leading receiver and rusher heading into next year if Najee.
That said, Pickens has the potential to turn things around. He has all the tools to be a dominant force, and I sincerely hope he proves his worth and becomes a fixture in the Black and Gold for years to come.
